Mom Sentenced 6 Years For Sex With Son’s Pre-Teen Friend

A Fountain Valley woman who admitted to having sex with her son’s 12-year-old friend was sentenced Friday to six years in prison.

Patricia Serrano, 45, must register as lifetime sex offender after pleading guilty in a Santa Ana courtroom to three charges of lewd acts on a child under 14.

The sexual abuse came to light when the victim’s mother found Serrano in a locked bathroom with her son in 2011 and reported the incident to police. Serrano twice had sex with the boy in her home and in a car, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

The Fountain Valley Police Department arrested Serrano Nov. 1, 2011.

In a separate but related case, Serrano had pleaded guilty Jan. 6 to one felony count of forgery and one misdemeanor count of attempted petty theft, according to the DA’s office.

Serrano had drafted a letter to her employer on fake DA’s office letterhead in an attempt to get paid for a day of missed work. The letter, which misspelled a prosecutor’s name, falsely indicated the Serrano had been in court.

Serrano’s employer contacted the DA’s office about the letter.
