The New York City Health Department hit Jay-z 40/40 Club with violations for its faulty plumbing and sewer system and for not  properly cleaning surfaces where food is prepared.
The latter violation, deemed critical, was among the food prep lapses health department officials found after they inspected the restaurant and lounge Sept. 8.
âFood contact surface not properly washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use,â health officials wrote, âand following any activity when contamination may have occurred.â

The club â where presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton attended a fundraiser last week â was also cited for a poorly installed and maintained plumbing system that allowed liquid to collect in the kitchen areaâs floor. The 40/40âs sewage disposal system is also âin disrepair or not functioning properly,â according to the health departmentâs inspection report.
Despite the violations, the lounge scored nine points, enough for it to earn an âAâ rating. Restaurants can get an âAâ if they get 13 points or less, a âBâ for 14 to 27 points and a âCâ for 28 points or more.
