Rare Female-To-Female HIV Transmission Reported In Texas

A Texas woman apparently contracted HIV through sexual contact with another woman, the Centers for Disease Control reported Thursday, a rare female-to-female transmission of the virus.

Testing confirmed the 46-year-old woman with newly diagnosed HIV “had a virus virtually identical to that of her female partner, who was diagnosed previously with HIV and who had stopped receiving antiretroviral treatment in 2010,” according to the CDC’s Weekly Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.

HIV transmission through female-to-female sexual contact “has been reported rarely and is difficult to ascertain,” officials said.

Past confirmation of such transmission “has been difficult because other risk factors almost always are present or cannot be ruled out,” the report said. “In this case, other risk factors for HIV transmission were not reported by the newly infected woman, and the viruses infecting the two women were virtually identical.”

The CDC said it was contacted by the Houston Department of Health about the case in August 2012.

The woman newly diagnosed with HIV did not report any other risk factors, such as injection drug use, tattooing, transfusions or transplants, officials said. She supplemented her income by selling plasma, and tested negative for HIV in March 2012.
Ten days after donating plasma, however, in April 2012, she went to an emergency room complaining of a sore throat, fever, vomiting and decreased appetite, among other symptoms. She again tested negative for HIV.

However, she tested positive for HIV when attempting to sell plasma 18 days later, and further testing confirmed the diagnosis.

The woman is believed to have been infected by her 43-year-old sexual partner, the CDC said. She told officials the woman was her only sexual partner during the six months before she tested positive.

HIV can be transmitted through blood, semen and vaginal fluids. HIV is not present in tears, sweat or saliva. You have to be careful out in these streets because even the lesbians spreading the HIV out here!

(Street Life CIty News) Kanye West’s elaborate wedding proposal to Kim Kardashian last year was a huge spectacle with several celebrities in attendance including YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley.

While Kanye and Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner, were happy to let E! film the occasion, they insisted that no other video be taken. Hurley did record the moment and posted the vid on his new media platform MixBit.

West and Kardashian ultimately sued Hurley accusing him of violating the confidentiality agreement he signed agreeing not to release any information about the event.

Hurley is now asking a judge to throw out the lawsuit on the grounds that releasing video of the Kanye-Kim proposal falls under his First Amendment right of free speech as a matter of public interest. He also claims that the couple has benefited from the publicity the video garnered, and they have not attempted to sue other media outlets or individuals who have also shared the video publicly.

According to THR, Hurley’s court documents address the entertainment website TMZ specifically:

Plaintiffs jumped through hoops to be the named plaintiffs in this suit, acquiring purported rights under the Release from E! Entertainment Television LLC, inexplicably leaked the complaint to news outlets before Defendants were even served, and failed to go after other parties, including TMZ, that continue to display postings of the purportedly offending video even to this day…

Plaintiffs have still not sued TMZ or requested that TMZ remove the copy of the proposal that remains on its website.

Hurley’s attorneys also argue since TMZ removed MixBit’s branding from the video, added its own branding, and exported the video to its own player (not an embed), the company has no control over removing the video and eliminated MixBit’s ability to benefit from it.

Conjoined twins born at a hospital in India appear to share everything below their two, separate heads, hospital officials told ABCNews.com.

“Yes this report is perfectly true that we have delivered a female baby having two heads,” Dr. Ashish Sehgal, the CEO of Cygnus JK Hindu Hospital, told ABCNews.com in an email. “She is presently alive and healthy.”

The birth occurred Wednesday morning by Caesarean section, Sehgal said.

The mother thought she was only carrying one baby because she was too poor to afford an ultrasound, according to Asia Cover Press.

The twins weighed 5.3 pounds, Sehgal said.

Hopefully the girl(s) live long healthy lives.

 New York Hospital Exposes 4.200 Patients To HIV And Hepatitis

South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside on Long Island, near New York City, said patients may have received insulin from a pen reservoir – not a single-use disposable needle – that could have been used on more than one patient.

“The risk of infection from this is extremely low,” the hospital said in a statement, adding it was recommending patients “be tested for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.”

When asked if anyone was confirmed to have been infected a hospital spokeswoman said “not to my knowledge.”

The pen-shaped insulin injector devices are often used by hospitals to give the hormone to patients and contain a reservoir or cartridge, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say.

The pens should be limited to one patient because regurgitation of blood into the insulin cartridge can occur after injection, creating a risk of blood-borne pathogen transmission, even when the needle is changed, according to the CDC.

Some 200 of the more than 4,000 patients who were warned have signed up for free blood testing, WABC-TV reported.

The hospital seems to have changed its policy on the devices, though it was unclear when the change occurred.

“South Nassau has already implemented a hospital-wide policy that bans the use of insulin pens and permits only the use of single-patient-use vials to administer prescribed insulin treatments to patients,” the statement said.

HIV can lead to AIDS, or the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, and hepatitis refers to a group of viral infections that affect the liver, according to the CDC.

The hospital is now offering free blood testing services. It will take the patients a few weeks to receive their results. If you know anyone who has been exposed please make sure they get tested ASAP!!!!!!!

According to Business Insider:

Atlanta, Ga.’s underground commercial sex economy is unusually large, with a lucrative market for street prostitution, according to a new study on sex trafficking and sex work in U.S. cities.

Of 7 major cities profiled by The Urban Institute, only Atlanta and Seattle saw their illegal sex trade grow between 2003 and 2007. The study estimated Atlanta’s market was $290 million by 2007, compared to just $103 million for Washington, D.C.

Since 2005, Atlanta’s pimps have been pulling in an average of $33,000 a week, compared to about $12,000 a week in Dallas and about $11,000 in San Diego.

The problem seems to be particularly bad along “densely urban areas” like Fulton Industrial Boulevard, the study found.

“You’ve got your major rappers from Atlanta come down to Fulton Industrial and shoot videos in the neighborhoods, on the streets, with the girls, and with the pimps and then pay $1,000 for the girls to come in and have sex with them,” one unnamed law enforcement was quoted in the study as saying.

The typical pricing structure on the street is $50 to $100 for oral sex and $75 to $150 for “full service.” However, drug-addicted sex workers charge as little as $10 for oral sex and $50 for “full service.” Online, sex workers charge from $60 to $100 for 15 minutes and from $250 to $300 per hour for dates.

(Street Life City News) When Tony Yayo used his Instagram profile recently to let the world know that he was done with music and insinuated that 50 Cent was no longer loyal to him, it became clear that the original G-Unit was officially over.

50 has now addressed Yayo’s statements in an interview with Billboard at SXSW. In the article, the Queens rapper states that the situation “doesn’t affect” his life, and he reveals that he has not spoken to any former or current members of G-Unit.

I wanted to do it independent.  He wasn’t a labelhead. He’s an artist. He’s a creative person and producer. Not only that but he’s a vegetarian, he doesn’t drink alcohol anymore; he just seems like he’s where I would like to be.

We ended up having talks about Buddhism and about spirituality and everything was just very compatible. He has proven so far that he gets it. He trusts me. He trusts that I know my vision.

On growing up in L.A.:
I remember the L.A. riots.  I was a baby, maybe a few years old, and where we lived everything was on fire. We drove up LaBrea to my grandmother’s house. Going up the hill, looking back, I thought the world was ending.

On being robbed at gunpoint with her grandmother when she was five:
They put a gun to my head in the kitchen while we laid down.

On Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) dating rumors:
We have the same publisher. One of his best friends, Fam, went to school with my brother who passed away. We have the same sense of humor, very sarcastic and dry. It was automatically like, ‘I like you! We can be friends.’

I look up to Drake,” Jhené says. “Everything in his whole career is commendable. He can act, he can rap, he can sing. I can relate to him. He’s mixed; I’m mixed. Everything he does, I take note because I feel like he’s doing a really good job of being, like, well-rounded. And not only that, he’s really talented. I’m always asking him for advice with stuff and trying to figure out how he deals with being such a big celebrity.

On Vine video and rumors that she “dissed” Drake during SNL:
We’re all standing there, and he’s the only person I know on the stage. The whole time I’m at SNL I’m nervous. Everybody starts hugging each other and I’m just standing there. Right when I turned around, he goes to hug me and it looks like I totally dissed him. I don’t want him to think that he brought me on SNL and I’m like, ‘Anyway….’

[My sister said] It could have been worse if he just woulda turned away. I think it woulda been worse if he just didn’t do anything.

On Drake’s response to the “diss” video:
[I asked him] ‘Remember when you went to hug me and I turned around? They made a GIF of it and it looks like I dissed you,’[Drake told her] “You go on the Internet too much.” And you know what? I probably do.

On whether or not there’s a man in her life now:
I’m about to give you…not a bullshit answer. There is, but I’m single. Not by choice. Only because I found now that when I talk to guys, they’re wary because they know about Donald, they know I’ve worked with Drake. They’re always side-eyed, suspicious. But I’m loyal in relationships.

If I’m your girlfriend, that’s it. I’m practicing to be your wife at that point because I treat it seriously. I feel like I was born to be a mom and a wife and totally domesticated. I’m not going to spend my time trying to prove that I am really who I say I am.

I can control myself. But if I’m single, I don’t have anything I’m obligated to do for you. At the same time, I would like a man to take control and say, ‘I don’t want you to talk to those guys.’ Give me rules. Yeah! Why not? Be a man. But I can say that there is a person and I hope that we grow to blossom and be everything a beautiful couple can be.

(Street Life City News) Lil Wayne has been talking about stepping away from the game for a while. The Young Money leader has insisted his next solo album,Tha Carter V, will be his last LP.

Wayne reiterated his retirement plans once again during an interview with MTV News. The New Orleans native added that the only way he would be willingly to record another solo album after C5 is if he is paid on the level of Kobe Bryant’s salary.

“25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this,” said Wayne. “I didn’t smile when I said it.”

The “A Milli” rapper is willingly to contribute to future collaborative projects like Young Money’s Rise of An Empire released this week, but he made it clear the next installment in Tha Carter series will absolutely be the last.

“I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes and it’s definitely the final Carter album. It’s the final Carter album. It’s stopping at five,” added Wayne. “The reason being is because the way I’m working on this album, to me, it seems like it will be impossible for me to work this hard again for anything else.”

Dad Tosses 2-Year-Old Girl Into Creek

Arthur Morgan III of Eatontown is charged with killing his daughter, Tierra Morgan-Glover, in what prosecutors claim was a premeditated, jealous rage because the girl’s mother would not get back together with him.

Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Jordan Williams told the jury that Morgan was driven by extreme jealousy and anger toward the girl’s mother, Imani Benton. She had refused to let him see Tierra the previous weekend because he was homeless and living in his car, Williams told the jury.

Despite her initial reluctance, Benton eventually agreed to let Morgan take Tierra to see “Happy Feet 2,” a movie about a dancing penguin. As he drove away with the girl strapped in the pink car seat that Benton had provided, he yelled at Benton, angry over the missed visit and suspicious she was seeing someone else, the prosecutor said.

Instead of taking Tierra to the movies, he drove around for four hours, calling her mother 57 times on a cellphone before making his way to Shark River Park in Wall Township, about 20 miles north of Benton’s Lakehurst home.

Authorities say he attached a car jack to the back of her car seat and tossed her into the chilly waters of a creek inside the park. Then he went to a liquor store, bought alcohol for rum and cokes that he downed with a friend and caught a train to begin his escape to San Diego, where he was tracked down and arrested days later by a fugitive task force.

The child’s body was found partially submerged in a creek at a Jersey shore park on Nov. 22, 2011, one tiny black and purple sneaker sticking out of the water.

In his opening statement, defense attorney Ryan Moriarty told the jurors their task is to decide “what form of homicide applies to this defendant.”

“We’re not asking you to presume Arthur Morgan innocent of responsibility,” he said. “It is our contention that he did not act knowingly and purposefully on that day but, rather, recklessly. Can your ability to think clearly be affected by lack of sleep, losing your job, staying in your car? By homelessness, by the end of a major relationship in your life?”

When asked why he attached a tire jack to the car seat, Morgan replied, “To keep her where she was,” Williams told the jury.

“Like an anchor?” the detective asked.

“Yeah,” Morgan replied, according to police. “Like a ball and chain.

The female student allegedly sent the Kenya Scandals Facebook page a message in which she said, “I see you people exposing scandals a also have a big one to tell just dont expose my name.”

The student said that she’s 19 and said that she was a virgin until she went clubbing with some seniors at the university. When she woke up, she realized that she had had sex when she was drunk.

Several months later, in November 2013, she tested HIV-positive. When she confronted the man, he claimed that it did not come from him.

The student says she nearly committed suicide but had a though. “Something came up in my mind that I should revenge. I hated men and I didn’t want to be near anymore. My future had been ruined, somehow someone had to pay,” she said.

After undergoing private therapy, “I accepted my fate and promised to make all men I come across suffer,” she said.

The student claims that she keeps a list of the men that she infected and will release it when she’s on her death bed. “I know I have nothing left to do on earth but to wait for my death but before i do, men will get it,” she said.

The men so far include many students, as well as lecturers, lawyers, celebrities, and elected officials.

The story has sparked a huge conversation on social media websites, with many condemning the scored woman for seeking revenge and others saying that the story is just a coverup for something else going on, such as the government allegedly infecting people with the disease.

Woman Finds Reptile Head In Her Salad

A Manhattan theatrical agent got a slithery surprise in her kale salad when she found a severed lizard head among the leafy greens Tuesday afternoon.

Robin Sandusky, 31, said she ordered a $6 salad from Guy & Gallard on West 40th Street, but found the reptile head inside the lunch after it was delivered to her Chelsea office.

“It was the craziest thing,” she said. “After a few bites, I look down at my fork, and think, ‘Oh, is that a piece of asparagus?’And then I saw that it had eyes, and an arm.”

Sandusky said she has had many salads from the Hell’s Kitchen deli before and never found a reptile in one.

“I order from them all the time,” she said. “The same kind of salad at least every day for the last two weeks, and it’s been fine.”

Sandusky repackaged the head with the salad and sent it back to the deli, which promptly gave her a refund.

“Honestly, I’ve never heard of something like this,” a deli manager said.

“I’ve never even seen a lizard in New York!”
