(Street Life City News) The roster of Young Money Entertainment is set to return with a new compilation album. Young Money: Rise Of An Empire, the follow-up to 2009’s We Are Young Money, will feature appearances by YM CEO Lil Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Gudda Gudda, Shanell, Lil Twist, Christina Milian, and the newest YMCMB signee Euro.

“This compilation is a very special release for the label. We Are Young Money helped launch the careers of our first generation of acts with Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga,” states Young Money COO Cortez Bryant. “Even though we’ve been honored with accolades as a company, our hunger hasn’t diminished or dwindled. We’re hungrier than ever, and we’re still building. That goes hand-in-hand with the title Young Money: Rise Of An Empire. We’re not going anywhere. We don’t plan on stopping— ever. Our goal is the expansion of this Empire with the next generation of kings and queens ruling.”

Rise Of An Empire will include the lead single “We Alright” by Wayne, Euro, and Cash Money boss Birdman. Drake’s Hit-Boy produced track “Trophies” will be part of the collection as well.

“This album is an excellent family effort and will be alighting radio airwaves across the globe!” says Birdman.

Young Money: Rise Of An Empire is scheduled for release March 11th via Young Money/Cash Money Records.

In a promotional video for his upcoming album, Ross revealed the cover for the album. In addition, Ross announced that the Jeezy collaboration would be entitled “#WarReady”

Ice Cube’s latest comedy film with Kevin Hart, Ride Along set box office record for highest opening weekend on Martin Luther King Jr holiday with $48.7 million in four days.

Yesterday (January 20th), in celebration of National Good Day Day, Goodyear placed his name on a blimp. The honor was also coupled with a $25,000 donation to the nonprofit organization, A Place Called Home.

Ice Cube’s upcoming album, Everything’s Corrupt is set to release on May 21st.

      

       (Street Life City News) Young Buck called into DJ Whoo Kid’s Shade 45 radio program to talk about various topics. One of the main points of interest for some rap fans is whether Buck is willingly to reunite with 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo as the G-Unit. The recently freed Buck speaks on his current situation with G-Unit and 50.

“This is not a G-Unit reunion. It’s not me signing with G-Unit,” explains Buck. “I haven’t even spoke with 50 in years. I wish him all the best. I don’t got no ill will in me. I was taught from the very beginning, you can forgive, but don’t forget.”

Buck also announces that his bankruptcy situation has been officially settled. According to Buck, he paid off his debts while still in prison and went on to buy back some of his items confiscated during an IRS raid.

“I paid my own bankruptcy off from the penitentiary,” says Buck. “My picture was being painted as if Buck is broke and Buck ain’t got s**t, but in reality Buck been straight for a long time.”

Buck also shares that several people in the Hip Hop community reached out to him while he was still locked up and after he was released. He was contacted by 2 Chainz, Drumma Boy, Birdman, The Game, Snoop Dogg, Jeezy, B.G., Lil Boosie, and Big Meech to name a few.

Buck’s also looking to connect with Dr. Dre and Eminem. He mentions that he would like to work Kendrick Lamar and Ice Cube as well. Buck plans to release a project featuring his recent remixes in the near future.

 

(Street Life City News) Well, of course. After days of speculation, CBS’ commercial last night (January 19th) confirmed that both Jay Z and Beyonce will perform at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.

The CBS Superstars! commercial promises that the Carters will be joined by performance from John Legend, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Hunter Hayes, Lorde and Katy Perry within the first hour of the telecast.

Beyonce performances rumors have been popping up in the last week. Last Friday (January 17th) it was rumored that Madonna would join Beyonce for her Grammy performance which was unannounced at the time. Days earlier it was rumored that Beyonce would perform with Jay Z at the Direct TV’s Super Bowl concert on February 1st after Jay was announced as the event’s headliner.

The 55th annual Grammy Awards will be hosted by LL Cool J and will air on CBS on January 26th.

 

       Somebody recently said that the new Kanye West album is going to have only about 8 song on it. This perplexed me until I heard the latest rumor. I am hearing that Jay and Kanye are gearing up for Watch The Throne 2. I don’t have a lot of info, but the last we heard about this, Kanye said that was a ways off. But, he also said that he and Jay are always working. And this is where my rumor probably stems from. Somebody told me they are working on it…but maybe they are just “working.”

There always seems to be some kind of shenanigans going on with Peter Gunz. We left off with word that Amina was actually pregnant (allegedly) and that Peter was still cheating on (What else is new?) her but now folks on twitter are claiming to have spotted the couple at the Medicaid office.

Plus, we saw this with Kim. She and Kanye were “just friends,” now look.

We here at Street Life City want to take the time to reflect on this holiday. Many may not realize how important this day is for African Americans across the nation. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the top civil rights leaders in our nation. He used non-violent means to protest segregation in the U.S., he marched with courage and determination to modify the abuse of segregation, and his classic “I Have A Dream” speech is one the historical and an all time masterpiece. We’ve come a long way since then. We finally have a black president, black-owned businesses, and black children going to Ivy League schools. Even though times are better for us now than it was back then, we still need to speak up about our rights in this country. We’re more than just a color, and MLK helped the nation recognize that. And for that we thank you Dr Martin Luther King for paving the way for us young African Americans to prosper. And we at the SLC heaquarters would like to say God Bless you and your family for many generations to come. Amen.
