Porn Star Suing Chase for Closing Account Over Her Job
Porn star Layton Benton is prepared to sue Chase Bank for closing her account, allegedly because of what she does for a living.
Benton claims they abruptly shut down her account containing thousands of dollars earlier this month. The 22-year-old star of films such as “The Bomb Booty” and “Doublicious” claims the only reason her account was shut down was because of her occupation.
She told the NY Post, “I am going to take legal action. Chase told me my account was ‘a risk,’ after they closed it without even calling me. I had a few thousand dollars in there, and they told me I’d have to wait 10 days to get a check. I literally went to the bank and cried, saying, ‘You can’t just take someone’s money.’”
Benton is also concerned because when a bank shuts down your acount it’s noted on your credit history, which may make it difficult to open another account and in general is damaging to your financial reputation.
The Post reports that Benton is one of four porn stars to have their account shut down by Chase, as the company flags payments for work that includes webcam appearances as “irregular activity.”
She also received a letter in the mail after they already shut it down, forewarning her of the action, reading, “We recently reviewed your account and determined that we will be closing it…cancel all automatic deposits that you have set up with employers, government agencies … destroy your debit or ATM card.”
The letter gave no reason for shutting down the account.

Magic Johnson reportedly interested in buying the Los Angeles Clippers
With Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s racist remarks coming to light over the weekend, the emphasis has now shifted to “what’s next” for the controversial owner and his distracted franchise.
One of the biggest discussions has centered around the future of the Clippers and whether the NBA and commissioner Adam Silver will force Sterling to sell that franchise. In that vein, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting Lakers legend Magic Johnson and his ownership group are interested in buying the team if Sterling is forced (or chooses) to sell:
Magic Johnson and his billionaire backers, the Guggenheim Partners, want a chance to purchase the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told Yahoo Sports. “Magic’s absolutely interested,” one source closely connected to Johnson’s business interests told Yahoo Sports on Sunday night.
In addition to the news that Johnson could have interest, Wojnarowski sheds a bit of light on the logistics of a potential sale:
“This is 100 percent Magic’s plan,” a league official intimately involved in the buying and selling of franchises told Yahoo Sports.
As an exit strategy, Sterling could walk away with a $1 billion-plus sales price for his franchise, and a final act of goodwill to soften his exile into the sports netherworld. Sterling will be reviled forever, but he has to understand clearing the way for Magic Johnson and the $200 billion-plus group backing him could be a decent farewell punctuating a most indecent ownership tenure. Sterling made Magic Johnson a part of those hideous audio tapes that have started to crumble his Clippers ownership, and here’s the old man’s way to make it right.
Magic is currently part of the ownership group of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have become significant spenders since being taken over in 2013, as evidenced by their payroll exceeding $230 million for the 2014 MLB season.
Johnson’s name first entered the swirl of the Sterling scandal when his name came up in the recorded conversation between the owner and his girlfriend. After hearing Sterling’s racist remarks on the tape, Magic declared that Sterling “shouldn’t be an owner anymore” and vowed to never attend another Clippers game as long as he ran the team.

Meek Mill Slated To Testify Next Week In Unlawful Imprisonment Case Against Philly Cops
(Street Life City News) MMG rapper Meek Mill is expected to the stand in his case against the city of Philadelphia next week. Meek is suing the city and members of the police department for what he believes was an unnecessary detention in 2012.
The Philly performer was detained by police after his car was stopped on Halloween night that year. Officers said they smelled weed in the vehicle, but Meek refused to allow them to search the car.
“You are gonna have to call the dogs,” Meek told the cops according to the police report. Drug sniffing dogs were brought to the scene, and the officers stated the animals “alerted to the presence of drugs.” Cops used that as probable cause to detain Meek, despite the fact no illegal substances were found at the scene.
The Dreams and Nightmares creator was held in custody for nine hours causing him to miss scheduled events. He also claims the entire ordeal cost him around $1.3 million in a deal with Puma because of the negative press.
Two officers have been named as defendants in the suit – Andre Boyer and Alvin Outlaw. Boyer was fired in 2013. A Police Board inquiry found he committed several violations surrounding $6,000 seized during a separate 2011 arrest. He also received numerous civilian complaints.
Another officer, Victoria Ayres, is accused of mocking the Meek Mill situation on Instagram. Meek’s lawyers say Ayres posted a picture to the social media site with the caption, “‘Talk about dreams and nightmares, Meek is sitting in cuffs courtesy of the 22nd District! I’m rollin! Maybe he’ll sign our copies.”

Lebron James: There Is “No Room” In The NBA For The Clippers’ Owner
(Street Life City News) Los Angeles Clippers star point guard Chris Paul is the President of the NBA Players Union, but Lebron James is the best player. Less than an hour before the Miami Heat play the Charolette Bobcats, comments on Donald Sterling’s racist comments.
Speaking to the media, James stated that Sterling’s comments were “unacceptable” if they were in fact true. James then implied that Sterling needs to leave the NBA:
Basketball is huge, obviously the playoffs have been unbelievable, and I hate the fact that something like this has to come out when the playoffs have been unbelievable and the game of basketball continues to grow, but there is no room for Donald Sterling in our league. There is no room for him.
James admitted he would contemplate boycotting games if the President of the Miami Heat made similar comments. Adam Silver succeeded David Stern as NBA Commissioner less than three months ago and James stated that he would need to act quickly:
For a player, I just think…I put my…I can only imagine if a player came out and said something of that stature what would happen to us as players. So, I believe in Adam [Silver], I believe in the NBA and they have to do something and do something very fast and quickly before this really gets out of hand.

Barack Obama To Have Chicago High School Named After Him

President Barack Obama will have a new selective enrollment Chicago public high school named after him, his former chief of staff and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Thursday afternoon.
Barack Obama College Preparatory High School, Emanuel says, will be built on the city’s Near North Side using $60 million in tax-increment financing funds, the Chicago Sun-Times’ Fran Spielman and Lauren Fitzpatrick reported. The school will open in the fall of 2017 with a freshman class of 300 students and will ultimately serve 1,200 students, the mayor said.
The school will be located behind Skinner North Classical School on Chicago Park District property and will help meet what CPS CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett described as a high demand for more of the highly competitive selective enrollment schools in the district, according to WBEZ. The district currently has just 10 citywide and many students who qualify for admission are turned away.
“We must seize every opportunity to ensure our students receive a world-class, 21st century education and that they are able to take advantage of the academic opportunities they have earned,” Emanuel said in a statement. “Year after year, too many of our students who have put in years of hard work are turned away because as a city we haven’t had the capacity to meet their capability and this important investment will help us fix that.”
A number of schools nationwide are already named after Obama, but this would mark the first in the president’s home state of Illinois.
The idea of young black children graduating from Barack Obama High School (or whatever they’re gonna call it) fills our African-American hearts with joy.

Lil Boosie: Sizzurp Tastes Like Kool Aid and Almost Killed Me 3 or 4 Times
(Street Life City News) Lil Boosie, recently released from prison after a five year sentence, is rejoicing for the ending of another torture of his that was seldom known. In an interview with TMZ, the New Orleans rapper speaks on his near lethal relationship with codeine cough syrup drink “sizzurp”.
Sizzurp (also referred to as “lean”) is a drink concoction that involves codeine cough syrup. Back in 2011, Boosie was indicted for allegedly attempting to smuggle sizzurp into the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. Boosie informed TMZ “Once you on, it’s hard to get off … it’s damn near impossible.”
While Boosie admits that the drink tastes like Kool Aid, he does reveal that it almost killed him approximately four times. Yesterday (April 23rd), a representative from a leading producer of codeine cough syrup, Actavis informed TMZ that the negative press over the years has influenced the company to stop production of the medication:
Given [recent media attention], Actavis has made the bold and unprecedented decision to cease all production and sales of its Promethazine Codeine product.

Patrick Peoples Gets Accepted Into Seven Top Ivy League Schools
Thousands of students apply to Ivy League schools, but very few are accepted. Wilmington native Patrick Peoples has the distinct honor of getting into seven of them.

Peoples is a senior at the Lyceum Academy of New Hanover High School and said he is thrilled to have been accepted to Princeton University, Yale University, Columbia University, Brown University, Dartmouth College, Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania.
“No one ever expects to get in,” Peoples admitted.
With acceptance rates as low as six percent, just getting into one Ivy League is a huge accomplishment.
“I just wanted to apply,” Peoples explained. “Maybe I’ll get into one, maybe just maybe.”
Patrick’s AP English teacher Catherine Edmonds says Peoples has earned his spot.
“He’s personable, he’s responsible, he has a complete and utter interest of what happens in the world, and he’s bound to make changes,” Edmonds said.
Change is what Peoples hopes to achieve with a degree in public policy and economics.
“I have a big passion for social justice,” Peoples said. “So when I see things that can be fixed or when I see people that don’t have the opportunity that I’ve had, it really makes me want to go up as far as I can and reach back and help people.”
Peoples is also editor in chief of his yearbook and heavily involved in Boy Scouts, student government and the Young Democrats.
In addition to the Ivy league schools, Peoples was also accepted to Duke University, Davidson College, the University of Chicago and was one of two New Hanover High School students to receive the Morehead-Cain Scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Peoples is finishing up his college visits and will have to decide where he will study by May 1.
