(Street Life City News) Ron Artest may have changed his last name to World Peace but his brother seems to be just fine at war. Today (February 22nd) Daniel Artest took to his personal Twitter account to air out his grievances with how the New York Knicks have treated his brother Metta World Peace, reveals

The 31 year old former basketball prodigy was “disappointed” in the playing time his brother received and compared the Knicks organization to World Peace’s prior team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Artest even alleged that World Peace once warned him that the New York Knicks Public Relations department were monitoring his Twitter activity:

The only members of the New York Knicks organization that Artest called out by name were James Dolan (owner of New York Knicks) and Mike Woodson (New York Knicks head coach). Artest accused Woodson of being a “yes man” and jokingly alleged that Dolan was being extorted:

This comes less than a hour after World Peace tweeted that the New York Knicks were working to buyout his contract and release him:

Metta World Peace signed a two year deal with the New York Knicks this past summer worth $1.6 million per season. He has only played in 29 of the 56 games the Knicks have played this season and is averaging 13.4 minutes and 4.8 points per game.

       (Street Life City News) 50 Cent probably became the biggest independent Hip Hop artist with his new deal at Caroline/Capitol/UMG and is following in the footsteps of another great independent businessman. For the first time since he announced his departure from Interscope Records, 50 Cent discusses details of his new deal and how it was supposed to happen.

According to the article, 50 Cent says that his deal at Caroline/Capitol/UMG is similar to Birdman’s Cash Money Records deal with Universal Music Group. Birdman’s Cash Money Records gives only “7% of wholesale per album to Universal in exchange for distribution and support” according to the article.

50 Cent still owed Interscope Records one more record under his contract but was able to leave the label without making the album or paying Interscope. 50 says usually this rarely happens for artists, but due to his relationship with Interscope powerhouses, Eminem and Dr. Dre, 50 is a “special case”:

I’m a special case and situation. It’s also because of the leverage of having the strong relationships with Eminem and Dr. Dre. They don’t want me to be uncomfortable. They value our friendship to the point that they would never want [to jeopardize] it over that little bit of money.

The biggest difference between 50 Cent’s Interscope deal and his Caroline/Capitol/UMG deal is the creative control over his release of new music and music videos. 50 says with Carolione/Capitol/UMG “it’s having the ability to do that versus, ‘It’s out of the question.’”

There tour was put together by her production company “Parkwood Entertainment”, which is also responsible for creating her visual album and her directorial movie debut “Life Is But A Dream.”

Thicker Than Water Arrested For Daughter’s Unexcused School Absences

Via TMZ reports:

Brooklyn Tankard — one of the stars of Bravo’s “Thicker than Water” — won’t be winning any Mom of the Year awards … she just got popped for allowing her kid to skip school.

Tankard — known as “Queen Brooklyn” on the show — was stopped by cops in Murfreesboro, Tennessee for a traffic offense … and a license check turned up some outstanding warrants … including one for “Failure to Cause Child to Attend School.”

According to court docs … Tankard’s 10-year-old daughter, Diamond, had 16 unexcused absences from school … and had another 35 unexcused tardies.

So they arrested Brooklyn for not forcing her kid to go to school.

She was booked and released.

Why should the child go to school? Clearly her reality star mama is not around to make sure she does…

(Street Life CIty News) The G-Unit was once one of the most successful crews in Hip Hop with rappers representing the East Coast, West Coast, and the South all on one team. Now, one of the last remaining members of the group has made it clear he is ready to officially move on from his association with G-Unit.

Tony Yayo took to Instagram to voice his feelings that he, 50 Cent, and Lloyd Banks are over as a collective. In a series of comments addressed to fans, Yayo stated that he is “done with the music industry” and he wanted to “try new things and the unit not together.”

 

“To many b***h ass n***as n***as want you to brown nose all the time homie,” writes Yayo. “50 ain’t rocking with me and Banks the same. I layed my life down for the unit but you live and you learn.”

This comes as a big change from just a week ago when Yayo posted a Throwback Thursday picture of him, 50, and Banks with the caption, “TBT just spoke to Banks we working. And @buckshotz we working the unit.”

Despite 50, Game, and Young Buck all stating that a full G-Unit reunion is not likely to happen, Yayo had shown his support for Buck recently. Buck even suggested that he would be open to working with Yayo again during an interview last month.

While Buck and Yayo may still be on good terms, it now appears the last three G-Unit members reuniting for another run is unlikely.

Woman Arrested For Leaving Child In Mailbox

Via ABC Action News reports:

Manatee County deputies say a mother left her child in a mailbox outside of a home that she believed was the current residence of the baby’s father. Erin Carnes dropped the 1-year-old at the 1600 block of 17th Street East near a mailbox.

Carnes returned to the location again, dropped two bags for the baby and left again.

The person staying at the residence says that she was never given the child, nor agreed to take the child.

Carnes was later involved in an accident on the Green Bridge and threatened to jump off the bridge.

After returning to the station officers learned of the incident involving the child and alerted the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The child is now in the custody of the her grandmother. Carnes remains in jail.

This woman clearly needs mental help! WTF?!

Forbes is now acknowledging 10 rappers under the age of 30 that are on the cusp of reaching the throne with its new “Hip Hop Cash Princes” list.

“These ten artists are the rising stars with the best chance of vaulting to the next level of commercial viability—and they’re the ones most likely to make the leap to the Cash Kings list in the near future,” states Forbes.

The 2014 Hip Hop Cash Princes list includes A$AP Rocky, Azealia Banks, Big Sean, Chance The Rapper, French Montana, J. Cole, Meek Mill, Travis Scott, Tyga, and Wale.

The finalists were chosen by rap music industry insiders Bryan “Birdman” Williams, and Fab 5 Freddy, Kevin Liles along with Forbes reporters Natalie Robehmed and Zack O’Malley Greenburg.

There’s been much discussion about the continuously frivolous spending habits of African-Americans while still struggling to get ahead in terms of long-term financial gain and recent statistics on African-American buying power are painting a vivid picture of just how much damage this counterproductive trend is doing in our communities.

Did you know that every time you make a purchase, it is being tracked by big companies? It is a trend for big corporations to purchase data research that is conducted by independent organizations on your spending habits. This makes it easier to market their products to you.

For example, when our community runs out and purchases Michael Jordan shoes at consistent rates, that company no longer needs to spend their money marketing to our community. They will use that money to focus on getting new customers. A large percentage of the corporate budget is to collect this data, this information is very useful to the sales and advertising managers.

We have a population of about 40 million people and buying power approaching $1.1 trillion in 2015. African American buying power is at the epicenter of our economy. Our consumerism keeps American corporations rich and our community poor.

According to Nielsen, The State of the African-American Consumer: “African Americans shop more frequently than all other groups, but spend less money per trip and overall. These cultural and behavioral dynamics reflects their tendency to make quicker/smaller purchases based on short-term needs rather than the desire to stock up.”

The data also suggests that African-American women tend to be the primary decision makers for most household buying decisions.”

In response to that information, women are always the primary target. If the company can appeal to the emotional side of the woman and make her feel inadequate because she doesn’t have the latest facial cream, face cream, heels, makeup, toys for her children etc, they can convince her that the answer to all of her emotional problems lies in her wallet.

Then, she’s bankrupt and corporations are rich.

Using hard earned money to treat ourselves once is a while is certainly not a crime, but when our communities are suffering from investing more of their money into temporary, superficial things than things of long-term value, there’s definitley a huge problem at hand.

According to TMZ reports:

Ludacris can’t afford to pay thousands of dollars in child support — and he’s blaming his financial woes on the death of his “Fast and Furious” co-star Paul Walker.

Ludacris was in court Wednesday with his baby mama, Tamika Fuller … who’s demanding Luda pay her $15K a month to take care of his 2-month-old baby daughter, Cai.

But Luda went to court and told the judge … he was counting on “Fast and Furious 7″ money to make his payments, and the movie is now on hold so his payday went away.

Luda claims he can only pay $1,800 a month — confessing he only made around $55K for 2013.

The judge split the baby down the middle, ordering Luda to pay 7K a month for now … while hizzoner reviews all the financial docs.

By the way … Tyrese also claimed relative poverty in his child support case because of Walker’s death.

First of all — this broad sounds hella greedy asking for $15K a month for a 2 month old baby when she was once taking a bus to her job on the pole! $7K is way more than generous but we think she doesn’t really need more than $3K do you agree.

Big Boi Refuses To Pay Exorbitant Child Support To Ex-Wife

Big Boi has rapped on multiple Outkast tracks about how he’ll never end up paying sky-high child support, and it looks like he’s living up to his rhymes. Currently in the midst of a divorce from his long-time wife Sherlita, Big Boi recently filed legal papers stating point blank that his wife needs to go seek employment rather than expect to fund her entire life on child support for their 13-year-old son Cross. According to TMZ:

It’s war between Big Boi and his estranged wife — the Outkast rapper does NOT want to shell out endless child support … claiming she’s perfectly capable of supporting herself.

As we reported, Big Boi’s wife Sherlita Patton filed for divorce last year … demanding FULL custody of their minor child (they also have an 18-year-old).

But Big Boi’s not about to cave — he just filed a response, saying their child would be better off with JOINT physical and legal custody.

As for child support — Big Boi says he’s willing to pay whatever the State of Georgia deems appropriate … no more, no less … because Patton’s young, healthy, and well-educated … which means she can support herself.
