There’s a New Web Series in Town.

Hello Readers.

This is my first post as Vice President, so I thought I’d start off by promoting my best friend’s web series that I worked on.

As you know (and if you don’t know, now you know), making a web series is becoming on big thing. In this day and age, it’s incredibly easy to shoot your own stuff and post it on the web, whether it be on Vimeo or YouTube. There are so many out there right now, and the really popular ones even get picked up by TV networks. College Humor, a comedy sketch web series, was once picked up by MTV as a TV show. Even though it didn’t last long, it shows that TV networks are starting to look to the web for content.

Another popular web series, Awkward Black Girl, follows a girl named J as she interacts with different people who put her in, you guessed it, awkward situations. It started off as a YouTube channel, and after gaining popularity and recognition, is now a website. It was even picked up by Pharrell Williams for his i am OTHER channel.

Needless to say, internet content is where it’s at. Which leaves me to introduce the upcoming web series Love’s Labor’s…Pending. The series is written and directed by my best friend and fellow NYU alum Adenike Thomas, who also stars as the main character. It follows a young woman by the name of Dana K. as she goes through hilarious trials to find herself a boyfriend.

Now, you’re probably thinking, Why should I watch this? There are so many web shows out there, so what makes this one different?

The unique thing about this web series is that it’s interactive. At the end of each episode the viewer chooses a path for Dana K. to take, making the viewer feel as if they are personally involved in the main character’s life. I haven’t really seen anything like that out there so I have great confidence this series will do well.

Right now the LLP team is promoting the series before launching the first episode on their official YouTube channel. The first season is about 6 episodes running around 3 minutes each. I was involved in the production of this series, so I am really excited to see it finally launched.

So, if you like what you read, please like it on Facebook! The official page already has 162 Likes, and they’re hoping to get more before releasing the first episode.
