Microsoft founder Bill Gates has regained the top spot as the world’s richest person, according to Forbes magazine’s annual ranking of global billionaires. Mr Gates’ total net worth was estimated at $76bn (£45.5bn) this year, up from $67bn in 2013. His rise in wealth knocked Mexican telecoms tycoon Carlos Slim off the top spot into second place.
In total, there were a record 1,645 billionaires, according to Forbes. The funds needed to make it into the top 20 ranking are now $31bn, up from $23bn last year, Forbes said. Mr Gates has been top of the list for 15 of the last 20 years, according to Forbes. Technology firms featured heavily in the list, with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg becoming the biggest gainer in net worth. His fortune more than doubled to $28.5bn, boosted by a sharp rise in the price of the social network’s shares. The social network’s chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg, also made the list for the first time.
WhatsApp founders Jan Koum and Brian Acton entered the list at number 202 and 551 respectively, thanks to Facebook’s $19bn purchase of the messaging app.

Kenyan pastor Rev. Njohi has raised not only a few eyebrows but red flags with his unorthodox suggestion of having his female congregants remove their bras and underwear before coming to church, so that Christ can freely enter their bodies with his spirit, according to The Kenyan Daily Post.
Njohi, who is the pastor of the Lord’s Propeller Redemption Church in Kenya, reportedly refers to undergarments as “ungodly.” The bible-toting minister called together a meeting with church officials and allegedly discussed banning the under garments because people “need to be free in body and spirit in order to receive Christ.”
After warning his female congregants about the evils of skivvies, the God-fearing pastor spoke of the damnation they will suffer if they dare not to go bare underneath.
In true fashion, the church’s female population reportedly did come to church sans their undies, the Post reports, in order to prepare for their spiritual taking.
This SICK Pastor probably wanted to lay hands on these unsuspecting women folk!

Defence continues to push ‘conspiracy’ line at Kartel trial
ATTORNEY Everton Dewar yesterday questioned the rationale behind the arrest of his client during his address to jurors in the ongoing Vybz Kartel murder trial in the Home Circuit Court.Dewar, who is representing co-accused Shane Williams, pointed out to the jurors that the prosecution’s main witness hadn’t mentioned his client’s name in any of his four statements.
Importantly, Dewar noted, the prosecution had said that its only evidence against Williams is a video with no face shown and persons talking. Additionally, the lawyer pointed out that the witness had said that the first time he ever saw the video was in court when he was called back to the stand at the end of the prosecution’s case.
“If this was the first time the witness is seeing the video in court and the prosecution said that this was the only evidence against [my client], then why didn’t [the witness] identify him before? What is it that caused him to be arrested and charged in the first place when the evidence is coming out for the first time in court?” Dewar asked.
“…Something isn’t right… either the prosecution is stupid (but I fail to believe that the prosecution is stupid to arrest a man without evidence) or the witness is telling lies,” Dewar added.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Dewar continue, “it’s a matter for you, why is he here?”
The phrase “why is he here?” became a punch line for Dewar in his short and forceful presentation that had jurors hanging on to his every word.
Dewar said that the prosecution had been “throwing out line like a fisherman” in relation to his client and that he brought back the witness to identify a photograph of him and to identify his voice because there was no other evidence.
Dewar, who said that the voice on the video attributed to Williams amounted to no more than three words, noted that the witness’ own evidence was that he didn’t know Williams “to talk to” and that his client had said that he didn’t know the witness.
The lawyer had jurors nodding and smiling in agreement when he said that persons sound alike and asked if they ever answered the phone of a brother, sister or mother and the caller mistook them for the person they intended to reach.
He said no evidence was led that Williams had been at the house in Havendale on August 16, 2011 when Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams was allegedly beaten to death over the disappearance of two illegal guns.
Dewar completed his address to the jurors paving the way for attorney Tamika Harris to begin her address when the matter resumes this afternoon.
Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer; Shawn Campbell, popularly known as Shawn Storm; André St John; Shane Williams; and Kahira Jones, have been on trial since November 18.
Yesterday, Pierre Rogers, who is representing Jones, concluded his address to the jurors. He said the police acted maliciously in creating a message about chopping up ‘Lizard’ Williams. “It shows malicious intent on the part of the police,” Rogers said. “The police created this with one aim in mind, one aim. This is malicious.”
Rogers described what was done in the case by the police as “nastiness” and said that the prosecution had failed to address critical inconsistencies in the case. “If this is not a set-up then what is? If this is not a conspiracy, what is?
“Why is the Crown making castles in the sky and asking you to join him up there?” Rogers told the jurors.
Rogers also told jurors that if they believe the prosecution’s main witness wrote a letter to the public defender recanting his statements to the police, then they have to acquit.
In the letter the witness said that the police had forced him to give his statement implicating the accused men and that he had seen Clive Williams after August 16, 2011.

James had a game-high 31 points, but he also scored high marks with teammates for his choice of face gear. The mask garnered more attention than his latest stellar performance.
“I told him I’d expect nothing less from him — fashion-forward, cutting-edge Renaissance man that LeBron is,” Heat forward Shane Battier said. “I thought it looked pretty sweet. Social media will get you in trouble every time. New York City police used afake Facebook profile to help them capture 15-year-old Kalief Jackson who is now charged in two robberies, one involving attempted rape and another involving sex abuse, along with six other cases of robbery and attempted robbery which have been referred to Family Court. SMH. Homeboy was out in these streets wildin!!!
According to a NY Daily News exclusive:
Back in January, cops noticed a robbery pattern of women being mugged by a perp claiming to have a gun and threatening to kill. The robberies began to stack up and were becoming increasingly alarming.
“If you say anything, I’ll shoot you,” the thief told a 28-year-old victim on Jan. 15 when he stole her cell phone and cash in Morningside Park, cops said.
Two days later, the suspect followed another 28-year-old victim into her Grand St. building in Lower Manhattan and demanded cash, sources said. When she handed over $2, he allegedly groped her genitals and forced her to touch his.
On Jan. 19, he trailed a woman into her Harlem apartment building at 3:40 a.m., threw her on the ground and tried to rape her, police said. He fled when she screamed.
But on Jan. 20, Jackson made a mistake when he followed a woman into her Lower Manhattan building and she called the cops, fearing he was up to no good, sources said.
Officers arrived within minutes and stopped and questioned Jackson, getting his name and address. They let him go when the woman declined to file a complaint.
Detectives later noticed Jackson’s description fit the suspect in the series of robberies.
A sergeant and an officer from 20th Precinct on the Upper West Side came up with the Facebook fakeout. They created a phony account for an attractive 20-year-old woman and sent Jackson a friend request.
“They have a dialogue, there’s a lot of back and forth, and flirting,” one source said. “But he’s also suspicious and at one point he says, ‘If you are the police, you’re real good at this.’ ”
He agreed to meet his dream girl on Jan. 22 in front of Martin Luther King Jr. High School on Amsterdam Ave. When he showed up, cops cuffed him.
Now police believe Jackson’s crime spree spread beyond Manhattan. On Wednesday, he was charged with robbing a 27-year-old woman in Astoria, Queens, on Jan. 17 of $16 and her driver’s license, police said.
SMH, this dude was stealing chump change, but the real serious issue was the attempted sexual assault. What the hell is wrong with him and where are his parents??? Homeboy gots the wrong idea about life. Let’s hope this brush with the law will prevent him from becoming more dangerous — and not just help him learn even more about thuglife.
